Short introduction of the business card.

Business cards design

The business card is one of the most used marketing tools nowadays. A business card is a tool to use, to have someone remember you, and reminded to contact you. But of course, there must be a reason for that.

What people do is they think when they carry a business card that is enough. That is why how you use the card, how you create the card is an important part of that.

You can't just go to your computer, put some heavy stock paper, print out some cards, cut them on your own, and then give this card to somebody hoping to impress them. Well you might make an impression, but not in the good way.

What information should you put on the business card?

The information on your business card should be strictly for contact purpose:

  • Your name
  • Your company name
  • Your title
  • Your address
  • Telephone number
  • Fax number
  • Email

Nowadays, people put their networking contacts on a business card. And it really depends on the type of business, this person has, as it is good not to have your business card look too busy.

How important is the quality of the business card?

Business cards

Do not go cheap with your business cards. Printing a business card on your home printer, looks cheap, and it does not speak well of you and your business. Of course, there is no need to buy the Lamborghini of the business cards.

Go for quality! A quality business card makes good impression. And first impressions do carry a lot of weight. A friend of mine who is a great businessman, and a CEO of one of the leading companies in his business niche, once told me: Mike, the first thing I look at when I meet somebody is to see if their shoes are shined. Because, if they take enough time to make sure their shoes are shined, then probably, they took the right amount of time to present themselves, and their story in the right way." A business card is like shining your shoes. And a lot of people do not think about it when they hand you a home made business card, printed on a really flimsy peace of paper, and the tone of the ink is like the cartridge of the printer, they print it on, was maybe almost out of toner, or color. They cut them with their own scissors, and you can see the uneven lines. If you are gonna do that, at least go to local office supply store, and use their big cutter.

Remember: What you say about yourself is what gets people's attention, and the business card fits right in there.
